GMC leaves Guwahati markets half-constructed for 5 years The markets under Guwahati Municipal Corporation which was supposed to be completed within 18 months is left semi constructed for the last five years   |  19 Dec 2020 1:00 PM GMT Guwahati: While fly-overs, foot-over bridges are being constructed all over Guwahati city three markets under Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has been left semi constructed for over five years despite promising to complete the construction within 18 months. Earlier in March 2014, the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) started the construction work in three markets- Ulubari GMC market, Ganeshguri GMC market, and Fatashil GMC market out of the 12 markets under GMC for the development of the houses of the markets in presence of Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal. The buildings were supposed to be completed within 18 months, however, it has been over five years no development was seen.

Image Source: IANS News Guwahati/Agartala, Dec 14 : The BJP has dumped its old ally in the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) polls in Assam and ignored its partner s willingness to share seats in the upcoming polls in Tripura tribals autonomous body aiming to strengthen its domination on its own in the tribal areas of northeastern region, political observers say. In the BTC polls, held last week, the Bharatiya Janata Party, which heads Assam s ruling coalition, entered resoundingly into the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) comprising four districts Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa and Udalguri - by wining nine seats in the 40-member council as against one in 2015.
