Assam govt orders closure of all Hookah Bars in Guwahati ANI | Updated: Dec 19, 2020 13:58 IST
Guwahati (Assam) [India], December 19 (ANI): Assam government has ordered the closure of all Hookah Bars in Guwahati with immediate effect, officials said here on Saturday.
According to officials, no further applications for renewal or issuance of trade licenses for Hookah Bars will be entertained by the Guwahati Municipal Corporation.

GMC leaves Guwahati markets half-constructed for 5 years
The markets under Guwahati Municipal Corporation which was supposed to be completed within 18 months is left semi constructed for the last five years

Guwahati: While fly-overs, foot-over bridges are being constructed all over Guwahati city three markets under Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has been left semi constructed for over five years despite promising to complete the construction within 18 months.
Earlier in March 2014, the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) started the construction work in three markets- Ulubari GMC market, Ganeshguri GMC market, and Fatashil GMC market out of the 12 markets under GMC for the development of the houses of the markets in presence of Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal. The buildings were supposed to be completed within 18 months, however, it has been over five years no development was seen.
