The ally mulls walking out of govt if GR on promotions is not withdrawn
The Congress, which is fuming over not getting due share in decision making and functioning of the Maha Vikas Aghadi government, on Wednesday indicated that it may walk out of the alliance government in Maharashtra if the government resolution issued on May 7 scrapping the 33 per cent reservation in promotions is not withdrawn.
Congress has been not only vocal but aggressive demanding the restoration of quota and ready to sacrifice power for the cause of backward classes and tribals. The Congress with 42 legislators may extend support from the outside.

Due to unavailability of either Covishield or Covaxin vaccine doses, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) on Friday evening announced that all the vaccination centres will remain closed on Saturday, May 22. Incidentally, the vaccination centres were also closed on Friday. Vaccination to remain closed on 22 May at all centers in Pune Municipal corporation area due to shortage of vaccine stock, said PMC.

COVID-19: Treatment for Black Fungus to be covered under two schemes in Maharashtra; families covered under schemes to get health cover of Rs 1.50 lakh

Given the rising incidence of mucormycosis in the state, treatment for this fungal infection mostly seen in Covid-19 survivors will be covered under the Centreâs Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) and the state governmentâs Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Jan Arogya Yojana (MJPJAY) in Maharashtra. Families covered under these schemes will get health cover of up to Rs 1.50 lakh, said the state government in a notification issued on Tuesday. The scheme will be in force till September 30, 2021.

A sailor, identified as Rajaram Kadam, from Devgad taluka in the district died when a boat anchored at the Anandwadi harbour in Sindhudurg district drowned.

MUMBAI: Two persons died in Maharashtra s Konkan region in separate incidents related to the severe cyclonic storm Tauktae, the state government said on Monday. Two boats anchored at the Anandwadi harbour in Sindhudurg district drowned, an official statement said, adding that seven sailors were on board the two vessels.

Saying that the news of the untimely demise of the dynamic parliamentarian was agonising , the Governor said it came at a time when one felt that he would come out of Covid-19. He was known for his leadership qualities and organizational abilities. He had excellent public relations. Unfortunately, death has snatched away a promising leader with great potential, said Koshyari.
