Kannur (Kerala) [India], May 2 (ANI): Kerala Chief Minister and Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Pinarayi Vijayan won from Dharmadam Assembly constituency, the Election Commission of India (ECI) announced on Sunday.
Apart from Vijayan, the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) appearing poised to form the government in Kerala again. CPI(M) has already registered a victory on 40 seats and leading on 22 more. LDF allies Communist Party of India has won 12 seats and leading on 5, while Kerala Congress (M) won 4 seats and leading on one.
Janadhipathiya Kerala Congress and Indian National League have also won one seat each while Janata Dal (Secular) has bagged two seats.

EC keeping track of ground realities in Dharmadam

The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) has informed the Kerala High Court that it will assess the ground realities in the Dharmadam Assembly constituency and adequate force will be called in if the situation so warrants.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is contesting as LDF candidate from the constituency.
Counsel for the CEO made the submission when a petition filed by M.K. Mohanan, general convener, UDF Dharmadam Assembly constituency, seeking deployment of Central forces and to protect the life of the UDF candidate and booth agents in the constituency came up for hearing. According to the petitioner, booth capturing and bogus voting were reported in the constituency during the last election.
