Police are investigating a fatal bus accident in the capital 6 April 2021
On Saturday night a passenger got off the Number Three bus near Massey University, and was reportedly clear of the vehicle when it started moving.
But the man became trapped and ended up being dragged more than 600 metres down Taranaki Street before the driver realised.
Emergency services were called just before 10pm, but the man died at the scene.
Tramways Union Secretary Kevin O Sullivan spoke to the driver, and says it s unclear how the man became trapped.
He says the driver is taking time off to recover.

Emergency services in Wellington have spent the night responding to a fatal crash involving a bus and a male pedestrian in the central city.

Police were alerted to the incident on Taranaki Street just before 10pm.
The street was cordoned off between Vivian and Bidwell Streets.
Cordons have now been lifted and the road is open.
A police spokesperson said the bus driver was shaken but uninjured in the crash. Tags:
