Floridaa lähestyvä hirmumyrsky Elsa on voimistunut jälleen hurrikaaniksi, kertoo Yhdysvaltain kansallinen ilmatieteen laitos (NWS) Twitterissä.
Tviitin mukaan myrsky sai aiemman hurrikaanistatuksensa takaisin rymistellessään Floridan niemimaan länsirannikolla sijaitsevan Tampan lounaispuolella.
Yhdysvaltain kansallinen hurrikaanikeskus (NHC) kertoo Elsan tuulennopeuden olevan enimmillään noin 33,5 metriä sekunnissa. Myrskyn uskotaan siirtyvän paikallista aikaa tiistai-iltana tai keskiviikkoaamuna lähelle Floridan länsirannikkoa tai sen ylle.
Nykyennusteiden perusteella Floridan uskotaan välttyvän myrskyn pahimmilta vaikutuksilta.

Kuubaa aiemmin höykyttäneen Elsan Floridaan saapuminen on aiheuttanut huolta muun muassa toissaviikolla Miamin lähistöllä osittain romahtaneen kerrostalon jälkimainingeissa jatkuvien pelastustöiden vuoksi.

From the east to the west coast (and somewhere in between), American Airlines is adding three new nonstop routes from Tampa International Airport.
On Thursday, June 10, American Airlines announced nonstop daily service to Los Angeles (LAX) beginning Oct. 7, and twice-daily service to Nashville (BNA) and Raleigh-Durham (RDU) launching Nov. 2.
The addition of new flights to LA, Nashville and Raleigh-Durham will take American Airlines above its pre-pandemic levels of service at Tampa International Airport, a major milestone, and demonstrates its strong commitment to the Tampa Bay region.
