Mumbai Police Commissioner Parambir Singh has been transferred to Maharashtra’s Home Guard department, state Home Minister Anil Deshmukh tweeted on Wednesday.
Maharashtra Director General of Police (DGP) Hemant Nagrale is the new Mumbai Police Commissioner, Anil Deshmukh said in his tweet.
Rajneesh Sheth will have the additional charge of Maharashtra’s Director General of Police, while Sanjay Pandey has the responsibility of the Maharashtra State Security Corporation, according to Deshmukh.

Senior IPS officer Hemant Nagrale, who was on Wednesday appointed the new Police Commissioner of Mumbai, saved lives during the 26/11 terror attacks by recovering a bag containing RDX near the Taj Mahal Palace hotel in south Mumbai and shifting it to a safer place.
Mr. Nagrale, who was holding additional charge as State Director General of Police, got the Mumbai Police chief’s post after the Maharashtra government transferred Param Bir Singh and posted him to the State Home Guard over his handling of the security scare outside industrialist Mukesh Ambani’s house.

Hemant Nagrale has received several awards like the President’s Police Medal, Vishesh Seva Padak and Antarik Suraksha Padak for his service over the years. He also played an instrumental role in saving people during the Mumbai terror attack in 2008.

Hemant Nagrale, an IPS from 1987 batch Maharashtra Cadre officer, will be holding the additional charge of Directorate General of Maharashtra Police.
The IPS officer pursued his schooling till the sixth standard from ZP School in Bhadrawati, located in Chandrapur district, and later moved to Nagpur where he completed his schooling from Patwardhan High School. Nagrale holds a degree of BE (Mechanical) from VRCE Nagpur (now VNIT) and is post-graduate in Master of Finance Management (JBIMS, Mumbai).

The human rights abuses that plagued the Enron Corporation’s Dabhol power plant in India from 1992 to 1998 demonstrate the need for US government agencies to scrutinise such controversial projects more closely, the Human Rights Watch said.
In 1999, Human Rights Watch charged in a 166-page report, “The Enron Corporation: Corporate Complicity in Human Rights Violations,” that Enron subsidiaries paid local law enforcement agencies to suppress opposition to its power plant in Maharashtra.
“Enron is now being widely accused of arrogance and lack of transparency, but the people of Dabhol have known that all along,” said Arvind Ganesan, director of the Business and Human Rights Program at Human Rights Watch. “Enron was complicit in human rights abuse in India for several years.”
