In the midst of a season many thought wouldn’t get played, the UAH Volleyball team finds themselves champions.
The team defeated Montevallo on Thursday to capture the GSC Spring Championship Series title.
Chargers’ senior Abby Brooks was among those who thought she’d taken the court for the final time last summer. On Thursday, Brooks was named the tournament s most outstanding player. A day later, the senior said it still feels surreal.

The Vanderbilt medical community was mourning the loss an employee who died in flooding that took place throughout Middle Tennessee over the weekend.
Vanderbilt University Medical Center on Wednesday identified the victim as VUMC Director of Service Learning and Measurement Maria Melton.
According to her LinkedIn page, Melton worked for VUMC for close to seven years and was also an adjunct professor at Trevecca Nazarene University.
Records show Melton, 45, most recently lived on Leiper’s Creek Road in Columbia, Tennessee, and previously lived in Chicago.
Melton is among seven people found dead in Tennessee after record rainfall over the weekend in the worst flooding for the region since 2010.

UAH Volleyball wins GSC Spring Championship Series
The Chargers swept Montevallo in three straight sets to win the title on Thursday.

The UAH Chargers (6-1) defeated Montevallo Thursday afternoon to capture the GSC Spring Championship Series.
Senior Kennedy Sellers had the game-winning ace as the Chargers swept the Falcons in three sets. Abby Brooks was named the tournament s most outstanding player she finished with a match-high 12 kills. Sabrina Ducan also had a game-high 41 assists and Kendall Scharbert recorded five blocks in the win.
The series doesn t mark the end of the season for UAH. The Chargers play at Lee next Wednesday before finishing the season at home against Trevecca Nazarene next Friday.
