It follows claims that residents in the county borough are being let down by the local authority’s approach to fixing damaged road surfaces. A report previously commissioned by Wrexham Council shows that £40m worth of investment is needed to improve the highway network. However, officials have admitted they do not have enough money to go beyond making temporary repairs, despite an extra £1m being included in their budget for the last 12 months to address their issue.

Properties in the Bangor-on-Dee and the Berse Road area of New Broughton were evacuated after heavy rainfall and snow caused by Storm Christoph caused flooding across the area. Now councillor Nigel Williams (Gwenfro), supported by councillors Alan Edwards (New Broughton), Paul Rogers (Brymbo), Paul Blackwell (Plas Madoc), Trevor Bates (Glyn Ceiriog) and I David Bithell (Stansty) have put forward a topic request form for the homes and environments scrutiny committee to discuss how such flooding can be prevented in future.
