A fire has ravaged an inner-city Brisbane home overnight, with fire crews battling to stall the multi-story inferno from affecting nearby houses.
Multiple fire crews from Windsor, Chermside, Hendra and Kemp Place, responded to several triple-zero calls about the Nelson Street, Kalinga property being engulfed in flames.
The high set, white Queenslander was well involved in flames when crews arrived on scene just before 1.30am Monday morning.

Tony Shipp from Windsor Fire Station told 9News the fire had spread to multiple levels of the property, but luckily the occupants were away holidaying on the Sunshine Coast.

The 2021 Cromer Carnival has been cancelled.

Cromer carnival has been cancelled for the second year in a row due to the ongoing risk posed by the coronavirus pandemic.
Taking place across three weeks in August, the event normally attracts thousands of people to the seaside town especially on carnival day, which traditionally falls on a Wednesday.

However, Mr Shipp said after a meeting of the organising committee where all the factors, including the safety of organisers and attendees as well as finances, were considered the committee had come to the unanimous decision the event could not go ahead.

The chairman of Cromer Carnival has said he is hopeful the popular event will be able to go ahead in some form this year.
