Alabama tops Tennessee after 9th-inning drama
HOOVER, Ala. – Alabama took down the higher-seeded team for a second straight day, this time claiming a 3-2 win over the No. 2 seed and fourth-ranked Tennessee Volunteers at the Hoover Met. The Crimson Tide came away with a 3-2 win in 11 innings to advance to the winner’s bracket on Thursday and improve to 31-22 on the season.
Alabama got out front first once again, scratching across one in the second and another run in the sixth for a 2-0 advantage. Tennessee answered, evening things up in the seventh thanks to a pair of Alabama errors that led to two unearned runs. Both teams would go scoreless in regulation, sending things to extras where the Crimson Tide took the lead for good on an RBI-single from Owen Diodati for the eventual 3-2 win.

On Wednesday afternoon, Alabama baseball upset a top-25 team for the second straight day, downing No. 4 Tennessee 3-2 in 11 innings to take the first game of the second round of the 2021 SEC Tournament.
While starting pitcher Tyler Ras was the key to success for the Crimson Tide on Tuesday against the No. 24 South Carolina Gamecocks, a closer would take the title as biggest contributor on the mound for Alabama on Wednesday.

HOOVER, Ala. – Alabama baseball used a six-run third inning to put the game out of reach early on the way to a 9-3 win over No. 24 South Carolina on Tuesday afternoon at the Hoover Met. The win advances the Crimson Tide to the double-elimination portion of the 2021 SEC Tournament and sets UA at 30-22 overall on the season.
The Crimson Tide delivered the decisive blow early with a six-run third inning. The third frame was highlighted by an RBI-double from Peyton Wilson, a two-run single from Owen Diodati and a three-run home run from Jackson Tate. The Tide added two more in the fourth and one run in the sixth with South Carolina matching each time, but the Gamecocks would get no closer resulting in a 9-3 final.

Fourth year player junior Sam Praytor, was named All SEC first team as a catcher on Monday. Praytor led the team with 13 home runs and 44 RBI on the season while hitting .288 with 11 doubles and threw out 11 runners trying to steal. The Helena native improved to .309 in conference play with eight home runs, 34 hits, and 23 RBI. The last Tide player to be named first team All SEC was centerfielder Taylor Dugas in 2012.
Sophomore second baseman Peyton Wilson was a second team selection behind Robert Moore of SEC Champion Arkansas. Wilson had a .297 average with 65 hits, nine home runs, 11 doubles, 10 stolen bases, 30 RBI, and a .982 fielding percentage. In conference play Wilson hit .315 with 39 hits, four home runs, 17 RBI, eight doubles. and six stolen bases.
