Major North Broadway construction hurting local businesses

The city is in the middle of a year-long construction project on North Broadway. Construction there began in April and is expected to last through November this year. The construction is blocking off a major part of downtown Rochester and restricting access to local businesses. I would say our business is down thirty to forty percent, Jeff Minske, who owns Minske Bait, Tackle, and Custom Rods, said. Jeff s business is right on North Broadway. He said the construction is making it difficult for customers to get to his store and it hurts because this is normally his busiest time of year.

Rochester city officials say aging and deteriorating infrastructure along and adjacent to the road needs to be replaced and upgraded. Work will include the replacement of water main, storm sewer, and sanitary sewer, along with the full reconstruction of pavement in the area.
