TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - The Tyler Fire Department reports two fires overnight, one at a restaurant Sunday night and one home early Monday.
No injuries were reported at either building, both unoccupied at the time of the fires, but each suffered significant damage.
The fire Sunday night was at Ruby’s Mexican Restaurant at 813 Lindsey Ln. The initial call was received at 10:15 p.m. on Sunday evening.
The first unit to arrive reported heavy smoke conditions firefighters immediately called for a second alarm response. Five engines and a ladder company, along with a battalion chief and an investigator responded to the scene. Most of the fire was located in the kitchen area, spreading to other areas in the building. TYLER, Texas Tyler firefighters worked two fires Sunday evening and Monday morning. Both fires resulted in significant damage to the buildings, which were unoccupied at the time.
According to Tyler Fire Marshal Paul Findley, the first fire was located at Rudy’s Mexican Restaurant at 813 Lindsey Lane.
The call was received Sunday at 10:15 p.m. and heavy smoke conditions were reported by the first unit resulting in the call for a second alarm response.
The fire was mostly located in the kitchen but was able to spread to some areas of the building.
Five engines and a Ladder Company, along with a Battalion Chief and an Investigator responded to the scene.

Well-traveled roads are beginning to thaw and create slush. Less traveled streets and shaded areas are still dangerous. We are expecting a refreeze tonight which will create icy conditions on roadways so use extreme caution if you have to get out. Residents are asked to stay home and not travel.

The city manager says the storm sewer system is in good shape to handle melting snow and ice over the next few days.
However, another issue Broussard anticipates is trash disposal and possible damage from the snow. He says the city is looking into a bulky trash pickup day or placing dumpsters across the city for community members to utilize.
Trash pickups are tentatively scheduled on Friday and Saturday depending on road conditions.
While there were issues across the city, Warren says his take away from the week was positive after seeing the Tyler community come together to help one another. As the need for warming shelters arose, local churches stepped in to open their doors, as many city facilities were without electricity and/or water.
