I don t what it is, but I ve been particularly seeking out summer fun this year. I m typically a cooler weather person, but perhaps after last year s quarantine I m feeling more ready to get out of the house.
One of my very favorite parks in East Texas is Bergfeld Park in Tyler. Particularly after the renovations, it s just such a lovely place to spend time. And sure, it s hot in East Texas in the summer. But thankfully, there are all of those gorgeous trees under which to find respite from the intense heat.
If you re looking to get out of the house and do something fun and summery, and dare I say, nostalgic, make a note of the Family Fun Day planned for Sunday, July 25, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Bergfeld Park in Tyler.

TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - A candle likely sparked the fire that destroyed an abandoned retail building in downtown Tyler, according to the Tyler Fire Department.
On March 11, firefighters responded to a call in the 500 block of North Spring Avenue. By the time crews arrived, the building was engulfed in flames.
After putting the fire out, investigators later discovered the remains of a candle near the area where they believe the fire started, according to Assistant Fire Marshal Brandon Davis.

TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - Tyler Fire Department responded to the scene of a burning building Thursday night.
The building is on the east side of North Broadway in what Tyler Fire Marshal Paul Findley said is an empty strip mall. North Broadway runs behind this building, and it faces the 500 block of North Spring Avenue.
Findley said that four fire engines, a ladder truck, and a battalion chief responded. Some remain at the scene to monitor the fire, which is under control.

TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - A Smith County grand jury indicted Kermit Frances Gabel on a single charge of arson.
The indictment was handed down on Feb. 2. Gabel, 89, of Tyler, is accused of setting fire to to a vacant structure at 205 S. Beckham Ave. in Tyler on Friday, Nov. 6. he was arrested nearly a week later on Nov. 11 on a charged of 1st Degree Felony Arson.
