MARSHALL, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) On the south side of the city of Marshall, Ill., a soybean field is in the preliminary stages of developing into the next public park.
Marshall native Gerald Forsythe recently announced plans to donate nearly 14 acres of land near Cherry and 11th Streets, while also paying all expenses to build facilities and finish for public use.
Forsythe and city officials said they hope this project benefits the community.
“We need to make sure this town continues to grow and evolve in such a way that it maintains the level of excellence we’ve had over the years,” Mayor John Hasten said.
HUNTINGTON â A handful of local health experts will come together this week for a public forum to answer questions from the public, and specifically the Fairfield community, concerning the COVID-19 vaccine.
âWe know that the COVID pandemic has disproportionately affected people of color,â said Dr. Tyler Clay, a clinical assistant professor at the Marshall University School of Pharmacy.
He said, historically speaking, that the Fairfield community has a higher minority population than other areas in the city. As more vaccine doses become available to the general public, Clay added that he believes the forum will be a great tool to achieve equity and reduce the burden felt by minorities.

A 100 WWC group gathers 4 times a year for a one-hour meeting and each member writes a $100 check to the charity that the group selects. This combined donation makes a real impact, without time consuming fundraising events and planning. The mission and hope of 100 WWC is to provide for those in greatest need in the local community.

Marshall Area Soccer Kids (M.A.S.K.) was founded in 1998 to provide children in the Marshall area with another opportunity to learn sportsmanship and teamwork through the game of soccer.
