State lawmakers in Austin spent all of Thursday grilling the people responsible for keeping the power on in Texas. They want to know where and how the system broke down last week. But it really isn’t all that hard to figure out. Two former CEOs in Dallas saw this coming years ago, which is why they sold their companies. They’d separately come to the same conclusion: if something like last week occurred, it would put them out of business. One of those CEOs believed a disaster was likely, if not imminent.

Christopher Pennock, Dark Shadows Actor, Dies At 76
Dark Shadows TV and the soap opera series
General Hospital has died at age 76. Pennock was briefly hospitalized on February 12th, before his passing; he had apparently been diagnosed with melanoma (skin cancer) last summer. Though his list of acting credits runs long, Pennock will best be remembered for his role as Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde characters Cyrus Longworth/John Yaeger in the original
Dark Shadows series. However, Pennock appeared in several roles of supernatural soap opera during its run, including those of Jeb Hawkes, Sebastian Shaw, and Gabriel Collins. To say he was a staple of the series would be an understatement.
Organisers David Selby and Derek Risbey A DARLINGTON club has launched an ambitious event to encourage people to walk 5,000 miles around Britain virtually this month. The Darlington Rotary Club sponsored event involves walkers collecting the miles they walk locally to add to an overall total, which will be plotted onto a map to show progress. Rotary Club members David Selby from Melsonby and Derek Risbey from Darlington put the plant together to get people out working and to raise money for charities hit by pandemic. Derek said: This is a good excuse to get outside - which is good for your health and well-being - and stay within the Covid rules.
Festive bin collections PROPOSALS to move from a three weekly to a four weekly collection of black bin rubbish have been dumped out of Powys Council’s 2021/22 budget. The idea was part of a package of cuts and savings proposals in the draft Powys County Council budget worth a total of £11.828 million. In total the cuts and savings expected from the Highways, Transport and Recycling Service total £980,000, and the change in collection would potentially have saved £50,000. But at a meeting of the economy, residents communities and governance scrutiny committee on Thursday, January 28, head of highways Matt Perry, explained research would be needed on what other waste could be taken out of the black bin for recycling before the authority could “consider the frequency” of collections.
