A DARLINGTON club has launched an 'ambitious' event to encourage people to walk 5,000 miles around Britain virtually this month.
The Darlington Rotary Club sponsored event involves walkers collecting the miles they walk locally to add to an overall total, which will be plotted onto a map to show progress.
Rotary Club members David Selby from Melsonby and Derek Risbey from Darlington put the plant together to get people out working and to raise money for charities hit by pandemic.
Derek said: "This is a good excuse to get outside - which is good for your health and well-being - and stay within the Covid rules.
