Mountain bike riders have been told to stop digging dirt jumps in Newtown s green spaces as the problem is getting out of hand . Open Newtown, an organisation that looks after the town s green spaces, said that they and the police have received a number of reports over the last month. They have since issued a plea to local riders to stop digging at the Castle Mound, Trehafren Hill and Vaynor Fields. Open Newtown said: Notice to our local mountain bike riders, stop digging up our green spaces. It’s getting out of hand. You’re damaging landscape, wildlife habitats and an ancient monument.
