Plymouth North, South track teams engage in the spirit of competition
Patriot League track and field divisional championship meets will take place next week
Wicked Local
PLYMOUTH – Virtual meets transitioned to reality earlier this week for the Plymouth North and Plymouth South winter track and field teams.
After several weeks only being allowed virtual meets, the Eagles and the Panthers got to compete against each other with the boys running at South on Monday and the girls teams clashing Tuesday at North.
“We had beautiful weather today at Plymouth North and the competition was great,” reported Blue Eagles Head Coach Cliff Buckley. “It was just so great to see kids compete. You could tell they were pumped to run, and the times showed it. There is always a great vibe when North and South run together. I feel like it is very positive and both teams cheer each other on. It is unique.”

Kylie Grassi s final high school hoop season concludes with MVP award
Wicked Local
PLYMOUTH – Kylie Grassi just missed out by a vote or two on being named the Patriot League MVP for girls basketball as a junior. But this year the Plymouth North senior left no doubt as to who was the best player in the Keenan Division.
“I can’t say that it was a goal of mine to win the MVP award, but I think coming so close last season and not winning it did motivate me a little this season,” Grassi said about being named the top player in the league. “It’s an honor to win MVP, but I’m more concerned about getting to team goals rather than any individual honors.”

It’s like they say. Better late than never.
Football players, winter track and field athletes, fall dance and cheerleading squad members, and participants in the unified basketball program all have something in common. All of them had their normal seasons canceled by the MIAA over COVID concerns. And now, for this year and this year only, they all began pre-season practices this week for the new Fall II athletic season.
“It was nice to see students outside and doing things once again,” Plymouth North Athletic Director Justin Domingos said. “We’ve got more than 200 athletes signed up to compete, so the kids are taking advantage of the fourth athletic season.”
