New Oregon residents won t need to take driver s knowledge test after June 5

SALEM, OR (KPTV) If you’ve attempted to get an appointment at the DMV in the last year, it’s been a struggle because of their backlog. If you try to schedule one now, it’ll likely be a couple of months before you can get in the door. “At the highest point, title turnaround, in worst-case scenarios was up to 20 weeks, in the middle of winter. This is an unprecedented backlog,” David House, a DMV spokesman, said.

Oregon DMV makes changes to address appointment backlog Megan Allison, KATU Staff © Provided by KATU Portland If you re waiting to get a title registration from the Oregon DMV, be prepared for a backlog. The backlog has been going on since the early days of the coronavirus pandemic. Some people are waiting as long as four to five months for an appointment, and the grace period just ended. That s causing concern for people like Patrick Leung. He bought a car out of state in January. Leung said after the initial inspection, it s been a long process to receive his registration. Now we’re just waiting, right? So it’s already May at this point and there’s an agreement with police that we don’t get a ticket until end of April, April 30th, and now it’s May, he said.
