SAN DIEGO (CNS) – A 19-year-old was arrested today for allegedly being intoxicated and driving recklessly last winter when his car broadsided a sedan pulling out of a parking lot at Poway High School, killing the other motorist and his teenage son.
Donald Lee Farmer was booked late Tuesday morning on suspicion of DUI, gross vehicular manslaughter and driving without a license, according to jail records.
Shortly after 7 p.m. Feb. 12, Farmer was driving a Mercedes-Benz southbound that struck the driver’s side of the victims’ Toyota in the 15000 block of Espola Road, sheriff’s Sgt. David Toner said.
POWAY (KUSI) – A motorist was killed this morning in a solo-vehicle crash into a tree near a Poway intersection, authorities said.
The wreck was reported about 2:50 a.m. near the intersection of Pomerado Road and Twin Peaks Road, said San Diego County Sheriff’s Sgt. David Toner.
Investigators determined a 2010 Honda Civic coupe was heading eastbound on Camino Del Norte when its driver allowed the vehicle to veer to the right off the roadway and collide with a tree near Pomerado Road, Toner said.
The vehicle’s driver, the only occupant, was pronounced dead at the scene, the sergeant said.

A woman died Wednesday morning after being dragged about 50 feet and then run over by a semi on a road behind the Poway Plaza shopping center.
The accident was reported around 9:38 a.m. According to Sgt. David Toner from the Poway Sheriff’s Station Traffic Division, it happened on the delivery access road behind the Five Guys restaurant in the 13300 block of Poway Road.
According to a Sheriff’s Department press release on Wednesday afternoon, when deputies arrived they found a deceased female who had been run over by a semi-tractor trailer.
“Through the course of the investigation, it appears the semi-tractor trailer was traveling northbound on the delivery access road behind the businesses,” officials wrote. “At some point, the female pedestrian and the trailer came into contact. The female was dragged approximately 50 feet before being run over. The female died at the scene.”

POWAY, Calif. (KGTV) A big rig struck and killed a pedestrian on an access road behind a Poway Strip Mall Wednesday morning.
Around 9:30 a.m. the woman was hit by the tractor-trailer at the shopping center in the 13300 block of Poway Road. She was dragged about 50 feet before being run over, according to sheriff s deputies.
The victim, whose name was not immediately available, died at the scene, Sgt. David Toner said. The investigation into how the initial collision occurred is still under investigation, the sergeant said Wednesday afternoon, adding that intoxication was not believed to have been a factor in the fatality.
