A woman died Wednesday morning after being dragged about 50 feet and then run over by a semi on a road behind the Poway Plaza shopping center.
The accident was reported around 9:38 a.m. According to Sgt. David Toner from the Poway Sheriff’s Station Traffic Division, it happened on the delivery access road behind the Five Guys restaurant in the 13300 block of Poway Road.
According to a Sheriff’s Department press release on Wednesday afternoon, when deputies arrived they found a deceased female who had been run over by a semi-tractor trailer.
“Through the course of the investigation, it appears the semi-tractor trailer was traveling northbound on the delivery access road behind the businesses,” officials wrote. “At some point, the female pedestrian and the trailer came into contact. The female was dragged approximately 50 feet before being run over. The female died at the scene.”
