Tempe police detectives arrested a man on Wednesday suspected of stabbing and killing former co-worker Ryan Portscheller in a business parking lot near Elliot and Kyrene roads on June 22.
David Cordero, 21, was found in Glendale and arrested on suspicion of first-degree premeditated murder in the death of 41-year-old Portscheller and booked into a Maricopa County jail, according to court documents and an email from Sgt. Steven Carbajal, a Tempe police spokesperson.
Police received a 911 call sometime after 3:30 a.m. on June 22 from a garbage truck driver reporting a dead body near the location. Officers found a man lying in the parking lot near the business s dock area, according to court documents.

TEMPE, Ariz. A man has been arrested in connection with a murder of a former coworker on June 22 in Tempe.
Officers were called to a JFC International storefront parking lot for reports of a body, police said.
Upon arrival, officers located a man with signs of physical trauma near a 1998 Chevrolet pickup truck. The victim s wallet and cellphone still nearby, according to police.
Early results of an investigation determined that the victim was an employee with the store. He was the last to leave in the early hours of June 22, police said.
Surveillance videos collected from the scene showed that at approximately 11:00 p.m., the suspect pulled into the parking lot, police said.

The City of St. George is gearing up to build a monument downtown to honor families whose loved ones were killed while in military service.
The Gold Star Families Foundation is a nationwide organization that recognizes military families and their lost loved ones. Like a similar one alrady installed in Ogden, this Gold Star Families Memorial Monument is planned to be in the center of downtown in the Historic Town Square. It s supported by two non-profit organizations, the Woody Williams Foundation and the Major Brent Taylor Foundation.
Jennie Taylor, founder of the Major Brent Taylor Foundation, has worked closely with the committee in St. George to give insight into the project.
