PIGEON FORGE â Dollywood is planning a âmultigenerational rollercoasterâ in 2023 in addition to new resorts.
The Dollywood Company already announced a new resort, HeartSong Lodge & Resort, which is set to open in September 2023 and is part of half a billion dollars in planned investment over the next 10 years across its properties. However, they have a larger vision for more resorts to come in future years, including an outdoor resort.
âWe are hard at work on designing resort three right now. Our intention is to begin construction on resort three directly after we activate resort two (HeartSong) and open it to the public,â said Eugene Naughton, Dollywood president.

PIGEON FORGE â The next hotel coming to Pigeon Forge will be a joint project for three Native American tribes.
The DreamCatcher Hotel will be developed through a joint investment partnership for the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, Seminole Tribe of Florida, and the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians.
Itâs the first time the three tribes have partnered on a project, and the first hotel under the DreamCatcher brand name for DreamCatcher Franchise Development.
âOur tribal partners share our bold vision of developing and investing in unique and innovative hospitality properties, located in areas we know people want to visit,â said Zeke Cooper, president of DreamCatcher Franchise development.
PIGEON FORGE â Just 123 people cast ballots in the cityâs municipal election Tuesday, as there were no contested seats on the city commission.
Commissioner Kevin McClure got the largest vote total in the election, with 121 votes in his favor, but was also the only candidate to have write-in votes cast against him.
There were two of those, meaning that everyone who cast ballots in the election voted on Commission Seat A.
Commissioner Jay Ogle, in Seat B, got 115 courtesy votes. Commissioner Tony Watts got 114 votes to retain Seat C.
The city holds staggered elections every two years, meaning the seats of Commissioner David Wear and Commissioner Ken Maples will be up for re-election in 2023.
