With a change at the top, Indiana is understandably recalibrating everything within the program.
When it comes to recruiting targets, that means taking a fresh look at who has been offered a scholarship to this point, as well assessing the top available prospects still on the board.
With two new assistant coaches on the the staff in Yasir Rosemond and Dane Fife, IU now has connections it didn’t have, and in large part because of that we’ve seen a wave of class of 2022 offers over the last few weeks.
With clear mutual interest when Archie Miller was still the head coach, 2022 forward Alex Karaban was generally thought to be at or near the top of Indiana’s priority list in the class a couple months ago.
The initial whirlwind is over, and a little over three weeks after the hiring of Mike Woodson as head coach, Indiana has what appears to be a final sense of the personnel it will bring in to the 2021-22 season.
The Hoosiers have their full assistant coaching staff in place, a number of off-the-floor positions filled and a new behind-the-scenes heavy hitter in Thad Matta, the long-time Ohio State head coach who is now the associate athletic director for basketball administration. Of the seven players who entered the transfer portal, they kept four and lost three. They added two outside players from the portal and added an incoming freshman to the 2021 class.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) - Purdue coach Matt Painter filled the second void on his coaching staff Thursday by hiring Terry Johnson from Ohio State.
Johnson spent the last seven seasons working under coach Chris Holtmann, the first three at Butler and the last four with the Buckeyes.
Last week, Painter brought back Paul Lusk for his second stint with the Boilermakers.
TOP STORIES
The two spots opened when Painter’s top assistants, Micah Shrewsberry and Steve Lutz, both accepted head coaching jobs. Lusk is expected to help replace Shrewsberry, the new Penn State head coach and former Butler assistant who helped run the Boilermakers’ defense for the past two seasons.

Hondo, how big was the loss of Dane Fife? I fear we just lost our next coach. Scott Grier
Dane is a friend of mine, as is Tom Izzo. Dane did what was best for him and his family. At the same time, I think it was perfect for Michigan State. Fife was NOT going to be the next coach at Michigan State.
