HAMMOND - Police have arrested four people in a fatal armed robbery and home invasion attempt.
Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives identified five suspects. Antwon Lewis Seymore, 23, Christopher Austin Jr., 20, Seionta Dasheawn Bells, 22, and a 16-year-old have been taken into custody. Another suspect, 26-year-old Devin Mitchell was killed in the incident.
Authorities say the suspects are believed to be linked to local gangs.
On April 12 around 1:00 a.m., two residents were pulling up to their house on E Louisiana Avenue when men opened their car doors and pointed guns in their faces. The victims were forced out of their car and further attacked, according to reports.

HAMMOND, La. (WVUE) - Four suspects have been charged following a home invasion in which a homeowner stabbed Devin Mitchell, 27, of Hammond, to death, said Chief Jimmy Travis of the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriffâs Office.
Mitchell and several suspects reportedly broke into a home on East Louisiana Ave. near Range Road on April 21 when the homeowner returned to residence with their children.

HAMMOND, La. (WVUE) - The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriffâs Office released the identities of four of the five arrested suspects involved in a home invasion that led to a homeowner stabbing a suspect to death. Chief Jimmy Travis said that crime is linked to gang activity in the area.
Travis said that all of the suspects are believed to be members or associated with two local street gangs known as â200xâ and âLa Familiaâ. The sheriffâs office collaborated with the Hammond Police Department Street Crimes Unit and the Louisiana Attorney Generalâs Office Fugitive Task Force to identify the suspects and link them to the gangs in question, Travis said.

Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff deputies say a homeowner used a pair of scissors to fight back against an armed robber who got inside his home. Chief Jimmy Travis says the homeowner feared for his life and two small children as one of the assailants was attacking him.
“He was forced to grab a pair of shears to defend himself and his family and it resulted in one of the assailants being critically wounded and died there on the scene,” Travis said.
Twenty-six-year-old Devin Mitchell of Hammond died from his injuries. Travis says Mitchell was one of five people involved in the armed robbery and home invasion. The other four have been arrested. Travis says the homeowner will not be charged.
Man Kills Suspected Gang Member With Scissors Protecting Family During Home Invasion

A Louisiana man stabbed and killed a robber with a pair of scissors while defending his family from a violent attack by suspected gang members, officials have said.
The homeowner was forced to use deadly force to protect his family and himself from armed intruders, during the armed robbery and home invasion at a residence on E. Louisiana Avenue in Hammond on April 12, the local Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff s Office said in a news release on Facebook.
Devin Mitchell, a 26 year-old Hammond resident, died from his injuries.
