We sent nbc 10s lu ann cahn to the campus as soon as we learned about this arrest. What have you found out about the suspect and the threat. Reporter initially we thought the student was 18 years old. We learned the student who has been arrested is 20 years old. He is a freshman. Hes a criminal justice major from lodi, new jersey. This morning, students saw that he had posted something that was alarming but the scary part for them, they didnt know who had posted it. It was anonymous. They notified administrators right away. Reporter the first person to be diagnosed with ebola on u. S. Soil has died. Thomas eric duncan died this morning at Texas Health Presbyterian hospital where hed been in isolation since last week. It under scores why the president has made it a priority to stop the spread of this disease at the source. Reporter duncan originally contracted the virus in liberia. The 42 year old did not show any symptoms when he left for the u. S. , but fell ill several days later. Dozens of people at risk of being infected by duncan are being monitored for 21 days. The Texas Department of health says well continue every effort to contain the spread of the virus and protect people from this threat. Ebola has killed more than 3400 people in west africa. Air travelers there have been checked for fever before depar departing and now an additional screening layer will be put in place at five u. S. Airports.
