More Lewes-to-Georgetown Trail work on schedule

DelDOT plans projects this summer and fall on popular cycling and walking pathway A section of the Lewes-to-Georgetown Trail from Log Cabin Hill Road to Cool Spring Road was completed last May. Work will continue this fall with a crossing at Route 9 toward Fisher Road, and this summer with a section from Georgetown. Work on the trail from the Georgetown Little League complex to Airport Road is scheduled to begin this summer, with bids going out in May. Work on a section from Cool Spring Road to Fisher Road, including a Route 9 crossing, is scheduled to begin this fall, with bids going out in July.

Gumboro residents want answers to weeklong police activity dirt road

Salisbury Daily Times Gumboro residents are abuzz about police presence on a dirt road off Westwoods Road that began Jan. 14.  Neighbors said police were most recently on R Farm Lane on Jan. 21. Later Thursday, a Delaware Department of Transportation truck towed an industrial light down the road, out of sight, and then left without it. Three trucks marked “forensics” showed up and parked north of R Farms Lane on Westwoods Road. From Jan. 16 through Wednesday, state police responded to Delmarva Now questions saying there was an active and ongoing investigation, furthering the frustration of neighbors who were told there is no threat to public safety.

Work on first phase of Munchy Branch multiuse trail nears

Rehoboth Beach  Delaware  19958United States The first phase of a project to provide safer bicyclist and pedestrian access along Munchy Branch Road near Rehoboth Beach is expected to be begin construction this fall. Phase 1 of the project includes a 2-foot shoulder, curbing and an 8-foot concrete sidewalk/multiuse trail along the eastern side of the road from Seaside Boulevard to Field Lane, with a tie-in to an existing sidewalk leading to Route 1. The existing road will be milled down and overlaid with new pavement. Eventually, in two other phases as funding becomes available, the shoulder, curb and sidewalk will be extended the length of Munchy Branch Road to Wolfe Neck Road.
