UPDATED at 10:55 a.m. Three people have been arrested in connection with gunfire directed at city police during a pursuit early today.
Terre Haute Police Chief Shawn Keen said officers attempted a traffic stop about 3:38 a.m. on a vehicle suspected of being involved in an earlier call for shots fired.

VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) - The Coordinator of Safety and Security for the Vigo County School Corporation has resigned.
The school corporation confirmed Travis Chesshir resigned on Monday. They did not offer to answer our questions as to why he resigned.
Chesshir was with the school corporation for a little more than two years. He was previously employed by the Terre Haute Police Department.

Just after 5:00 Tuesday evening, a man police said was inside of a Fruitridge Avenue home came out without any further incident.
How did it start?
It started earlier Tuesday afternoon at a home located at 1038 Fruitridge Avenue. This is near Maple Avenue.
Terre Haute Police Chief Shawn Keen said police responded to the house based on information from a family member. They had reason to believe the man is suicidal.

It s National Police Week, and local officers are remembering the men and women killed in the line of duty.

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - It s National Police Week, and local officers are remembering the men and women killed in the line of duty.
The Terre Haute Police Department hosted the Fallen Officers Memorial Services Monday morning.
The department offers the public ceremony with the Vigo County Sheriff s Office each year.
The names of fallen city and county officers are read. Every time I read those names, I think about them, and the summaries behind them, that they were people, they had families, Terre Haute Police Chief Shawn Keen said.
