Hogan A Terre Haute man arrested in connection with an improvised explosive device found outside the Terre Haute Police station early Saturday used paint thinner, ammunition and nails inside a plastic gas container to make the device, according to a court document. Curtis Todd Hogan, 50, is in the Vigo County Jail with bail set at $50,000, cash only. He is awaiting a Thursday hearing in Vigo Superior Court 6 on preliminary charges of possession of a destructive device, a Level 2 felony, and attempted arson, a Level 4 felony. Hogan was identified as a suspect after a tip city police received when they posted photos of a suspect on social media.

Man Arrested for Leaving ‘Improvised Explosive’ Outside Terre Haute Police Department TERRE HAUTE, Ind. A man was arrested Saturday after an “improvised explosive” was found outside the Terre Haute Police Department. Early Saturday morning, a fire was reported on the west side of the police department. Once the fire was put out, investigators found that the device was a gas container converted into an explosive with “an accelerant and projectiles.” No one was hurt, but the department worked with the FBI in its investigation. Using surveillance video footage, they were able to identify the man as Curtis Hogan. Hogan was found and arrested just a few hours later. He’s charged with with possession of a destructive device and attempted arson.
