Village leaders Tuesday will get their first look at a proposed new rule requiring that attainable housing be included in new residential developments in Libertyville.
The village board will discuss the recommendation for an attainable housing ordinance during an informal work session beginning at 6:30 p.m. at village hall, 118 W. Cook Ave.

Running unopposed, Donna Johnson was certain to be elected last month as the first new Libertyville mayor in 12 years.
But she made a point of putting out campaign signs anyway.

A new era for the Libertyville village board will begin Tuesday night, when four members, including 12-year Mayor Terry Weppler and two trustees elected with him in 2009, step aside.
Trustee Donna Johnson, who joined the village board in 2007, will be sworn in as mayor during a special meeting at the Libertyville Civic Center. Three new trustees will be sworn in as well.
No business will be conducted, and the oaths will be sandwiched between meetings of the sitting and new boards the first in-person board sessions since March 10, 2020. The meetings also will be shown online at libertyville.com.

Libertyville Mile of Cars donated $30,000 to 4 local charites during the Village of Libertyville Board Meeting on Tuesday, May 27, 2021.
The donation was part of the
Libertyville Rewards program that ran in the village from October 2020, and ended February 2021. When consumers purchased or leased a new vehicle at a Libertyville Mile of Cars dealerships, they receive certificates from the Village of Libertyville, usable towards goods and services at participating Libertyville businesses. Last summer, Libertyville spa owner Cindy Nennig approached village leaders for guidance on a somewhat unusual request to attract business.
On a trip to Colorado, Nennig visited a honey products store and learned of an age-old beverage that evoked images of knights and jousting.
In the back, they had a mead tasting bar, she said. That was my inspiration.
