Unity in Test Valley has received a digital inclusion grant of £45,000 from the BIG Lottery fund. The grant has paid for the new Unity Directory called the CHAWD (Charity Health and Wellbeing Directory) and is a search tool for people to find what free support is available. It is an easy site to navigate, and you can use keywords such as Health Care, Social, Transport etc to find local charity organisations who may be able to offer the right support and contact details. The Coronavirus has impacted on everyday services such as lunch clubs, social groups and other early interventions provided by the charity sector.
The Test Valley Civic Service was held on Sunday July 4 in Romsey Abbey. A service was led by the Mayor’s Chaplain, Rev’d Thomas Wharton and the theme was to give thanks for the dedication and support of volunteers who have worked so hard, in particular during the pandemic. The Mayor of Test Valley, Councillor Mark Cooper said: “The fact that this day coincided with the National Thank You Day was apt, during the pandemic we have seen overwhelming support from volunteers across the borough and this was the perfect opportunity for us to give thanks and show our appreciation.”

A VACCINE hub in Romsey has staged its final clinic this week as part of the UK s biggest vaccination programme. The last clinic was held on Wednesday, June 9, before staff from Romsey and North Baddesley practices stood down from the vaccination centre. This comes after a Facebook post from the practices explained staff and more than 90 volunteers have worked tirelessly to deliver at least 28,000 Covid-19 jabs from the hub, but GPs now want to focus on bringing staff back into surgeries to care for their patients. Now leaders at a Romsey-based charity, Unity, have praised everyone who has helped roll out the game-changing jabs since December 2020.
