It’s been two steps forward, one step back for live music across Victoria recently, and the internationally renowned Port Fairy Folk Festival has been affected like so many others.
Festival director Justin Rudge said there won’t be thousands of folks creating the usual festival atmosphere in the seaside town in March. But homegrown musicians – including Kutcha Edwards, Tim Rogers and Mick Thomas’ Roving Commission – will shine at a handful of carefully curated shows.
State Government announces support package following circuit breaker
New support has been announced for small businesses, including sole traders, most impacted by the coronavirus circuit-breaker action.
The $143 million Circuit Breaker Support Package is expected to help more than 50,000 Victorian businesses, including restaurants, florists, confectioners, hairdressers, accommodation providers, musicians and performers.
The package contains four initiatives targeted at businesses, including small and micro businesses.

- The new $92 million Business Costs Assistance Program will offer grants of $2,000 for eligible employing and non- employing businesses in the hospitality, food wholesaling, tourism, events and selected retail industries. Businesses with an annual payroll of up to $3 million will be eligible.
Warrnambool and Port Fairy safety signs erected, following floods
New and crucial safety signs have been erected in Warrnambool and Port Fairy in a bid to warn locals and visitors about the flood danger around various popular spots.
The signage, developed by VICSES, Glenelg Hopkins CMA, Warrnambool City Council, and Moyne Shire Council contains key safety information, emergency phone numbers, local imagery, and a handy QR code that links to online flood resources.
The signs can be seen at the Russell Creek culvert, Mortlake Road in Warrnambool and Martins Point Playground in Port Fairy.

A La Nina weather pattern remains current, and has already brought higher than average rain throughout summer in Warrnambool and Port Fairy.
Lockdown to end at midnight tonight
The news that residents on the Great South Coast have been waiting for has been announced, with confirmation there will be no extension to Victoria s snap 5 day lockdown.
Almost all restrictions will be lifted from 11:59pm tonight, including the four reasons to leave your home and the 5km radius, though only 5 visitors will be allowed in the home, and 20 at a public gathering.
Schools will re-open, as will businesses effected by the lockdown, while sport and recreation can resume.
For masks, they will be required at all times inside (other than at home), and outdoors whenever a safe distance cannot be kept.
