More than a fortnight after they were kidnapped near the Bangladesh border, the three border fencing workers have been released by National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT-BM) ultras.
Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Tripura Police Subrata Chakraborty told indianexpress.com that the trio was released on Wednesday due to “continuous operations” by the local police and other security forces, and “tremendous pressure” mounted on overground workers of the insurgent outfit inside Tripura.

It is the hallmark of every great institution and judges that they are keener on justice and not merely the law, Chief Justice of India Sharad Arvind Bobde said here on Wednesday.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of an e-Sewa Kendra at the Tripura High Court, CJI Bobde said he was “acutely conscious” that the decision to shift judicial processes online would make justice “technology-dependent” but it had be done to avoid a complete shutdown of courts amid the pandemic.
However, the order comes with a rider of maintaining a set of standard precautions. Students would be required to obtain written consent from parents or guardian to join the classes, undergo routine sanitisation, thermal scanning, hand washing arranged by the school authorities while they attend the classes.
Principals and headmasters were asked to make seating arrangements of students at least six feet away from each other or adopt measures including different time schedules for alternate batches. All schools were asked to adopt ‘rigorous teaching’ to cover the pending syllabus.
“The schools may adopt rigorous teaching to be able to cover the syllabus. For this, the teachers may continue with their online classes also during free periods in school time, after school hours and on holidays so that the students do not have to depend on private tuition, especially for the benefit of students from humble backgrounds”, the notification said.

Tripura Opposition leader Manik Sarkar Wednesday accused the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of launching a premeditated attack on Communist Party activists while the latter were observing a condolence meeting for those who died protesting the centre’s farm laws at Delhi. Sarkar claimed the police were informed of the incident but they did not intervene.
