MusiCares reaches out to the music community with mental health awareness programs
To shine a light on the importance of mental health among the music community, MusiCares
®, the leading music charity, is announcing a month-long line up of events to encourage musicians and those in the industry to prioritize their mental health. As the industry enters a new stage of the pandemic and more people become vaccinated, MusiCares is turning its focus to the future, prioritizing self-care and healing after a difficult year.
While mental health issues existed in the industry long before the COVID-19 pandemic, and will endure beyond it, MusiCares witnessed first-hand how seriously the pandemic affected music professionals. The inaugural MusiCares’ Wellness in Music Survey revealed that 26 percent of respondents were experiencing moderate to severe depression and 53 percent of respondents indicated they were unable to receive counseling because they couldn’t afford it.
2021 San Angelo Ceramic Invitational set to begin
SAN ANGELO The 2021 San Angelo Ceramic Invitational will begin Thursday with a schedule of events that runs through the weekend.
Artwork will be on display at the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts, 1 Love St., from April 23-June 27.
Laura Huckaby, assistant director at SAMFA, said they are excited to put on an event this year after it had to be held online in 2020. There are still a few modifications in place for people s safety, Huckaby said. Masks are required indoors, but we have more things happening outside than indoors.
Artists in this year s show will include Ariel Bowman, Brooks Oliver and Gregory Tegarden.

Compiled by the State Government s statistician s office, the Queensland Regional Profiles report details projected population figures and reveals that unlike the 2016-21 model, which had Bundaberg s growth ahead, the Fraser Coast is expected to take the lead going forward. Fraser Coast councillor David Lee believes this only adds weight to the argument Bundaberg is no longer the appropriate place for the region s only Level 5 hospital and the site of the current Hervey Bay hospital is not going to be able to meet demand in the future.
