BOURNE Although the May 3 annual and special town meetings in Bourne are no longer just about “essentials,” Town Administrator Anthony Schiavi describes what is up for debate as “pretty benign.”
Town meeting voters will tackle a proposed budget of over $70 million, sewer rates and fees, the removal of the police chief from the state’s civil service system and several private petitions, most notably the ban of single-use plastic water bottles.
Budget, rates and fees
Voters will be asked to approve a $71,735,576 budget for fiscal 2022, an increase of a little over $1 million from this year’s budget.
Article 3 will ask voters to transfer $50,000 from sewer enterprise retained earnings to the general fund to offset sewer enterprise expenses and to lower sewer ratepayer fees.
