Burchfield Penney Art Center to reopen Thursday

BUFFALO, N.Y. After a two month hiatus from allowing the public through its doors, the Burchfield Penney Art Center at SUNY Buffalo State College will reopen this Thursday.
“Our priorities remain the same keeping our staff and visitors healthy, and fulfilling our mission,” says Burchfield Penney executive director Dennis Kois.
The museum plans to continue its health and safety policies, including mandatory masking, social distancing and having an hour just for members and people who are high risk.

BUFFALO, N.Y. The Board of Trustees of the Burchfield Penney Arts Center, located on the campus of Buffalo State College, announced its executive director is resigning to take a new post.
Dennis Kois will be stepping down effective March 5 to become executive director of the Yerkes Future Foundation in Wisconsin. Dennis s leadership has transformed and strengthened so many aspects of the Center. Wherever you look from our fundraising successes and visionary major projects underway to ensuring our organizational structure, diversity efforts, and outreach to families are top-notch, you can see the impacts of his leadership and positivity,” said Burchfield Penney board chair Shelley Drake, who is also the Western New York regional president of M&T Bank.

ndy Goldsworthy: Snow is on view at deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum, in Lincoln, Mass., now through December 31, 2011. This spring, deCordova announced it had approved a proposal from the internationally renowned sculptor Andy Goldsworthy for a commissioned work called Snow House.
DeCordova has organized the exhibition Andy Goldsworthy: Snow in order to raise awareness and the funding necessary to bring the proposed work to fruition. The exhibition will include snow-related works by the artist (photographs, video, drawings), research about ice harvesting in New England, as well as his proposal drawings for Snow House.
