As we enter severe weather season, Chris Hohmann tells you everything you need to know about severe thunderstorms.
A morning round of showers and thunderstorms is currently forecast to move through parts of the Gulf Coast states. A few of these storms may be severe, but the main threat ramps up in the afternoon and continuing into Wednesday night.
During the afternoon hours, some of the states, especially in the Moderate or Enhanced risks, could see supercell thunderstorms develop. These types of storms are discrete, individual storms that are known for producing tornadoes. Not all of these storms will produce tornadoes, but given the favorable environment for tornadoes, it will be possible with some of them.

We re now learning at least 57 people died after last month s winter storms in Texas. That number could rise as more data comes in.
Officials looked at deaths occurring between February 11 and March 5.The majority of deaths were linked to hypothermia. Others included carbon monoxide poisoning and car accidents.
People are still dealing with the aftermath of the deadly weather and being hit with energy bills that were nearly 10 times the normal amount. The state Senate approved a bill Monday, cutting more than $5 billion in disputed charges.
Griddy, one of the companies that sent those high bills, just filed for bankruptcy.

It may be mid-March but winter is not yet giving up, especially this weekend in the west.
Areas of Colorado saw powerful snowstorms creating blizzard conditions. Denver International Airport reported more than 19 inches of snow canceling 900 flights.
Roads were closed and the Colorado Department of Transportation issued travel warnings urging people to not make unnecessary trips.
Cheyenne, Wyoming was socked with 25 inches of snow a two-day record. Winds hit 50 miles an hour.
The storm drawing warm air from the south created havoc elsewhere. Twin tornadoes were kicked up in the Texas Pandhandle.
And in Amarillo, Texas, winds were strong enough to overturn a semi-truck. No injuries or deaths have been reported.
