Good morning, im melissa ray berger. Im frances rivera. We begin with breaking news. An aircraft with 11 crew and passengers crashed into the ocean southeast of okinawa, japan. While the navy did not release the type of aircraft involved the u. S. Seventh fleet said the uss Ronald Reagan is now conducting search and residue operations. The aircraft was flying to reagan at the time of the crash. The cause is unknown. The navy says the names of the crew and passengers are being withheld pending next of kin notification. This morning new fall out hitting longtime newsman charlie rose after pbs canceled the veteran journalist name sake interview show less than 48 hours after at least eight women accused rose of Sexual Harassment. The cancelling coming after rose was ousted from the cbs morning program. What were watching is this giant storm system, again, its very elongated. Its going to take a while to get here. It will be here throughout the day tomorrow as it approaches our area. Watch the temperature profiles, you can see the temperatures still too warm to support all snow in many places. Were seeing that changeover in south delaware and new jersey. Then as temperatures falls, you see by tomorrow morning its up into philadelphia and on up into the Lehigh Valley and the poconos. Steve is going to walk you through some of those snow totals. Jersey shore. Between 2 00 and the morning and 7 00 thats when philadelphia will see flurries and light snow developing. This is going to be a long lived event, tonight through sunday night. About 18 hours of potential snow. It will be light snow, steady snow. Were not expecting thundersnow and it is going to be a wet snow that comes down. A light snowfall but a wet snow that comes down. Slippery travel. Well see icy roads on the back side of this entire thing. Heres a look at whats going on with this right now. You can see the snow already moving through southern delaware, lewis, dover, you have rain. Smyrna, rain, wilmington, rain, even into west chester, the suburbs seeing light showers right now. Cape may, we are looking and through wildwood up to atlantic city, were looking at some light snow, this is melting when it hits the ground. Raindrops ha raindrops are freezing on contact. The purple may be a mixture of freezing rain and sleet. Its less dangerous that the pim pink freezing rain. You can see there are patches here in new jersey making it not a solid thing. Its not continuous and some of this is not even reaching the ground. But it is, all through the philadelphia area, and points to the north and west, in philly, this is all freezing rain, an icy mix, maple glenn and norristown, all freezing rain just to the north. It is snow and it would be the best thing because you can deal with an inch of snow. And to the west now, its changed over to snow. Again, farther to the north and west, we dont really have any problem. Here we are in new jersey and were getting some icing in mercer county, too. The wider view shows that this is a fairly narrow area. Its not going to last all night. The temperatures, of course, are critical. Slippery roads for the morning commute, but improving conditions later today. Allentown has seen steadier snowfall overnight.
