Fireworks start fire, damage home

Scott Firefighters put out a fire at a home early Monday, after fireworks started a fire.
Firefighters were called to the home in the 200 block of Country Living Drive at about 12:30 a.m. Monday, Chief Chad Sonnier says.
They found heavy fire in the attic area, entered the attic and were able to bring the fire under control quickly, the chief says.
An investigation determined that the family had discarded some fireworks that had been popped earlier. They had discarded the fireworks in a plastic trash bin located next to the home, and fire smoldered in the bin, then spread up the exterior wall to the attic, the chief said.

Fire officials say space heaters caused a trailer fire Friday in Duson.
The Duson Fire Department was dispatched to the 500 block of Fifth Street for a residential fire after a caller advised they heard an explosion and their trailer was on fire.
Firefighters deployed pre-connected hand lines and began safely extinguishing the fire. The city s fire chief arrived on scene and advised responding units of water shuttling if needed due to the low water storage capacity in the town.

Duson Town officials escorted Santa up and down the streets of Duson on Christmas Eve before Santa takes off on his busy night.
Santa met his police and fire department escort at 2:45 pm at the Duson Fire Station.
The caravan traveled through the Town with Santa riding on top of a Fire Engine. Helpers gathered letters for Santa from local residents. Today Santa Claus is preparing to head out and deliver his gifts over night but he decided to stop in Duson, said Police Chief Kip Judice. Make a ride through town. Let the kids see him wave. Wish them all good luck and let them know he will be on his way shortly.
