It s back! The Lion King is making a return to Cleveland this fall with 16 performances set for Playhouse Square at the KeyBank State Theatre from Oct. 1-15. Tickets will go on sale to the general public starting Monday, June 21 at 10 a.m.
With this limited engagement, Cleveland becomes the first city in North America to host The Lion King five separate times.
“ The Lion King will make its triumphant return to Cleveland at a time when families will be seeking ways to reconnect and create new memories, and what better way to do that than by experiencing this stunning and joyful show together,” said Playhouse Square President & CEO Gina Vernaci. “We are preparing all of Playhouse Square for the safe and healthy return of audiences and performers this fall.”

Courtney Stapleton (SIX, Dear Evan Hansen West End) and Emmanuel Kojo (Girl From the North Country West End) have signed on to portray the iconic Disney prince and princess in the touring production, which will also feature two-time Tony nominee Gavin Lee (Mary Poppins, The Spongebob Musical) as Lumiere.

HOLMDEL, NJ - The show will go on this year as Holmdel Theatre Guild (HTG) presents a streamed performance of their winter musical, Disney’s The Little Mermaid. This production marks a triumphant return to the stage for members of the drama club at Holmdel High School after last year’s production was postponed on opening night, and eventually cancelled, in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. The Guild planned to present a live performance in the HHS auditorium, but quickly shifted to a recorded performance after mounting difficulties made that impossible. “This show is a testament to the collaborative spirit of theatre and the passion and joy that theatre students at Holmdel High School bring to their art,” said director and district Theatre teacher, Dr. Jim DeVivo. “We made a promise to each other at the beginning of the year that no matter what, no matter when, and no matter how, the show will go on
The production has stated that Matt West, who choreographed the original
Beauty and the Beast, will now also direct the piece, which is set to open this summer.
