South Central PA New Year s Eve celebrations will look, feel much different during COVID-19 With the pandemic still very much a part of our lives, local communities are choosing to forego traditional New Year s Eve celebrations. Unfortunately, because of COVID-19, none will look the same as we re used to this year. Thanks again, 2020. Whether it s a pickle in Dillsburg, a Kiss in Hershey, or a massive bologna in Lebanon, local communities are choosing to forego their traditional New Year s Eve festivities in favor of scaled down, virtual events, or in some cases, nothing at all.

bkibler@altoonamirror.com COVID-19 vaccinations at Pennsylvania nursing homes began Monday, with at least one Blair County facility among those receiving immunizations the first day. Sixty-one residents and 53 staffers at the Presbyterian Village at Hollidaysburg got shots of the Pfizer vaccine from employees of CVS, which, along with Walgreens and several other pharmacy firms, has contracted with federal Operation Warp Speed to dispense immunizations at long-term facilities across the country. Other area nursing homes have received schedules for visits from pharmacy personnel, including Garvey Manor, where first doses will be administered Saturday and Sunday and boosters three weeks later; and Homewood at Martinsburg, which will receive visits Sunday and Jan. 24.

The grants are part of a long of list of projects across the state that were awarded money for redevelopment through the state’s Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program. The grant program is administered by the State of Pennsylvania’s Office of the Budget and is for the acquisition and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational, and historical improvement projects. Grant money has been awarded from the state through the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program since 1986.

It was merged with a broader $1.4 trillion bill to finance federal government programs. Late Tuesday, President Donald Trump assailed the stimulus package as insufficient and said he may not sign it. Trump said he is asking Congress to amend the bill and “increase the ridiculously low $600 to $2,000, or $4,000 for a couple. I am also asking Congress to get rid of the wasteful and unnecessary items from this legislation and to send me a suitable bill.”

The 11 stations are located in the following municipalities in Cumberland, York, Franklin and Perry Counties: Lemoyne Penn Township, Perry County Chambersburg West Shore Advanced Life Support has been providing prehospital emergency and non-emergency services for around 35 years. The stations and their staffs, including emergency medical technicians, paramedics, prehospital nurses and prehospital doctors became part of State Health on Dec.1. The stations of West Shore Advanced Life Support joining Penn State Health will become part of Penn State Health Life Lion. Penn State Health Life Lion will manage the health system’s prehospital medicine program, in coordination with Life Lion Emergency Medical Services at Penn State Health�
