The St. Thomas church coffee group gathered Wednesday morning for a blessing of the statue of the Virgin Mary in front of the church. The blessing was led by Father Rich Tomkosky in the rose garden. The statue was place in memory of Father Raymond Crosser, who pastored the church from 1972 to 1989 and who died July 22, 2020, at Garvey Manor, Hollidaysburg. He was 90 years old on April 7, 2020. Father Crosser returned after Father John Vago died in December 2002 and served as administrator until July 2003. The coffee group has gathered after Wednesday morning Mass for many years. Members said they have celebrated Father Crosser’s birthday every April. He would always choose Ed’s Steak House as the place to gather, they said, even after he returned to Altoona. When his mobility declined, members would travel to Altoona to his favorite restaurant, El Campesino.
