2022 NFL Mock Draft Roundup: Who the Eagles might take with 3 first-round picks

You thought our weekly mock draft roundup was over because the 2021 NFL Draft has come and gone? Think again!
There has been no shortage of 2022 NFL mock drafts (including our own) published this week, so let’s take a look at some of the incredibly early options for the Eagles’ first-round picks next year. Philadelphia currently has its own first in addition to the Miami Dolphins’ first selection. The Birds might even have a third first-round pick if the Carson Wentz trade conditions are met.
Unfortunately, one of the players that didn’t hear their name called was center Drake Jackson. However, he was quickly picked up in free agency by the Detroit Lions.
Yahoo! Sports’ Pete Thamel polled 100 coaches form the 10 FBS conferences to learn who they were most surprised to see fall to a later round in the draft or even not get picked.
Drake Jackson was one of the names that came up multiple times as someone who coaches were shocked didn’t get drafted as Thamel noted that Jackson got the most mentions “by far” of the undrafted players.
“Flip on the film, he had no problem blocking the best defensive linemen in the country week in and week out. If he was a little taller [than 6-foot-2], he’d have been gone in Round 2. I’m shocked that he didn’t get drafted. Great communicator and such a good adjustment maker that I’ve adjusted some things [coaching] based on what he showed me on tape.”
The Detroit Lions have signed a long snapper to compete with veteran Don Muhlbach.
According to Pro Star Sports, Scott Daly has signed with the Lions to attempt to earn a roster spot.
Daly played college football at Notre Dame, and has previously stated he began specializing in the long-snap department back in the fifth grade.
After going undrafted, Daly signed with the Dallas Cowboys, but was waived in September of 2018.
In October of 2018, Daly signed with the San Antonio Commanders of the now defunct Alliance of American Football. The AAF ceased operations in April of 2019.
The Lions hopeful attempted to play in the reformed XFL in 2019, and was was drafted by the New York Guardians. Unfortunately, he had his contract terminated when the league suspended operations on April 10, 2020.

The 2021 NFL Draft is in the books, so naturally, it’s time for a way-too-early 2022 Mock Draft.
Why do we do this exercise? For starters, it’s fun, and fans devour it. When we did this last April after the 2020 NFL Draft, we correctly projected 13 of the 32 first-round picks, including direct hits on Justin Fields to the Bears and Micah Parsons to the Cowboys.
But we also do it because it starts the process of analyzing the upcoming college football season. More than anything, it begins our annual deep dive into figuring out who needs what in the NFL.
