At the time, Dr. William Valenti was an infectious disease physician at the University of Rochester. Now Senior Vice President for Strategic Advancement, Chief of Innovation, Co-Founder, and Staff Physician at Trillium Health, he said in a statement Friday;
“Something about it was troubling – it was a cluster of cases in gay men. This was during a time when people rarely talked about sexual health or sexually transmitted infections. It would eventually become a global pandemic,” Valenti recalled.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) Trillium Health will be administering a pop-up, walk-in vaccine clinic at the RTS Transit Center on Wednesday.
The clinic will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will be using the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
Those who receive the vaccine will also receive seven free RTS bus passes.
Trillium Health will also be offering free walk-in STD/HIV/Hepatitis C testing.
The pop-up vaccine clinic is a collaboration between the Regional Transit Service, New York State, Rochester Rapid Response Team, the City of Rochester, Monroe County, Common Ground Health, the Finger Lakes COVID-19 Vaccine Hub and Task Force and Trillium Health.
