Will Geron Christian and Troy Apke be packing their bags soon?
Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports It was reported today that two veteran free agents recently cut by their respective teams, Charles Leno of the Bears and Bobby McCain of the Dolphins, will visit the Washington Football Team facility next week as Ron Rivera continues to strengthen and deepen the Football Team roster in an effort to repeat as NFC East champions. This could end the Washington careers of two 2020 Week 1 starters, LT Geron Christian and FS Troy Apke, both of whom were benched midseason by head coach Ron Rivera.

The Washington Football Team will be bringing in another free agent who was released this week. Former Miami Dolphins safety Bobby McCain has a visit with the team scheduled for Monday. He will join Former Chicago Bears LT Charles Leno Jr. as both players try to do enough to get a new contract here.
Washington has had questions at free safety for a long, long time. Last season saw Troy Apke starting the season in the position, but the team moved on to Deshazor Everett after 5 games, and Jeremy Reaves got the nod after Everett went on IR with a torn pectoral.

The Washington Football goes back to the secondary with the 163rd overall pick, taking Cincinnati safety Darrick Forrest.
Forrest, who
NFL.com s Lance Zierlein called an urgent player in his draft evaluation, is a three-year starter who was an All-AAC honorable mention in 2020. He made 36 career starts for the Bearcats and recorded 200 tackles to go with 12 pass breakups and six interceptions. Forrest was a first-team All-AAC selection in 2019 for getting 106 stops, 63 of which were solo, and three interceptions. He s willing and able to play near the line of scrimmage or flow downhill quickly in order to constrict the run lane and defend the flanks against outside runs, Zierlein wrote. He s comfortable and steady from split zone and has a game that is also suited for playing down near the box.
