NFL Mock Draft Roundup: Mel Kiper Jr. and Todd McShay both go defense for Washington in the first round
Draft day mocks!
We did it! It’s draft day morning for the 2021 NFL Draft! Lying season is still in full swing, and a lot of teams are linked to trading up, trading down, and every other option out there. Everyone is posting their final mock drafts to try to get credit for predicting what 32 different teams are planning tonight.
Todd McShay takes a big swing first for the Washington Football Team and has them drafting one of the more controversial first round prospects in this year’s draft, Penn State LB Micah Parsons. He is considered the top LB by a lot of people, but red flags continue to get thrown his way throughout the draft process and he opted out of last season. It’s still no where near certain that he would even be available at #19, but if he is, and Ron Rivera selects him, it’s a huge positive check in his character column.

Could Jeremy Reaves be the WFT’s long term option at free safety?
Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports
As the 2020 season ended, and draft nerds like myself turned our attention to the 2021 draft in late April, fans took a look at the players leaving and being added in free agency as well as the team’s strengths and weaknesses in the wake of the 2020 season. Ronald Darby was lost, but replaced with William Jackson III, who appears to be a net upgrade. Curtis Samuel (and Adam Humphries) absolutely improved the WR room. Kevin Pierre-Louis was lost without an in-kind replacement, weakening that group a bit. Based on those evaluations, an assessment of team “needs” is often informally developed, as a lens to consider during the draft.

The Indianapolis Colts have continued to stay busy with depth signings this offseason, as they signed safety Sean Davis to a one year deal. Davis is a former starting safety for the Pittsburgh Steelers who has mostly been a backup over the past two years. He spent part of last season with the Washington Football Team before being cut and re-signing back with the Steelers.
In today’s film room, we will be looking at some aspects of Davis’ game that are intriguing while also looking at the steady fall from grace over the years for the athletic safety.
WFT 7 Round Mock Draft By Rook6980 on Apr 5, 2021, 4:59pm EDT +
2021 Mock Draft
I have been trying my hand at Mock Drafts, using fanspeak s On the Clock 2021 Mock Draft Simulator. Here is my latest effort. I tried to keep this mock as realistic as possible.
As you can see, I did not prioritize QB or WR. I don t believe that one of the five first round quarterbacks will fall to pick 19 - and I just didn t see anyone in the later rounds that I thought could be a franchise quarterback. I think that building the team and then spending draft capital on a QB next year is a better option than sending THREE first round picks + other assets/picks to move up for one of those five quarterbacks this year.
