Montgomery police are investigating a shooting that led to the death of a child.
Police say at about 5:00 this afternoon, they and fire medics went to a hospital where a juvenile had been taken with a life-threatening gunshot wound.
Police spokesperson Cpl. Tina McGriff says that the juvenile later died.
Police have not released any information about what led to the shooting, whether it happened in Montgomery, the child’s age or name. They are still investigating what happened.

20-year-old killed in Montgomery shooting; 2 charged with capital murder

A Tuesday-night shooting in Montgomery left one man dead, and now two people are charged with capital murder.
Montgomery police were dispatched at 6:10 p.m. to the 5700 block of Express Drive on a report of a single-vehicle crash into a hotel. When they arrived, they found 20-year-old Dequan Johnson unresponsive from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
Cpl. Tina McGriff said there was damage to the building but no injuries to anyone inside.
About 7:20 a.m. Wednesday, Montgomery police were on patrol in the 500 Block of Eastdale Road South when they spotted someone believed to be wanted for felony warrants. After units attempted to make contact with the vehicle, a pursuit ensued. The male was taken into custody in the 3400 block of Thomas Avenue. There were no injuries.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - Mug shots and charging information are now available for both suspects arrested in connection to the Tuesday night shooting death of 20-year-old Dequan Johnson.
According to Cpl. Tina McGriff, Marquis Phillips, 23, and J’Hance Gillium, 19, both of Montgomery, are each charged with capital murder.
Jail records indicate the specific charges they face are one count of capital murder committed during a first-degree robbery and one count of capital murder of a person inside a vehicle from outside a vehicle. Phillips also faces an additional charge of first-degree robbery.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - A single-vehicle wreck led Montgomery police to a fatal gunshot victim Tuesday night.
A police spokeswoman said officers responded to a vehicle wreck in the the 5700 Block of Express Drive around 6:10 p.m. WSFA 12 News crews at the scene confirm it was Home Inn and Suites.
Corp. Tina McGriff said officers found a gunshot victim who was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s identity has not been released.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - Montgomery police have charged a suspect after
Cpl. Tina McGriff says Benjamin Lowe, 24, is charged with two counts of second-degree assault and shooting into an occupied building or vehicle.
The shooting happened on Thursday around 12:15 p.m. in the 1200 block of the Eastern Boulevard, according to McGriff.
A WSFA 12 News photojournalist found officers and crime scene tape in the parking lot of the Americaâs Best Inn. An arrest affidavit says Lowe shot into one of the rooms of the hotel, hitting the two victims.
