20-year-old killed in Montgomery shooting; 2 charged with capital murder Updated Feb 17, 2021; A Tuesday-night shooting in Montgomery left one man dead, and now two people are charged with capital murder. Montgomery police were dispatched at 6:10 p.m. to the 5700 block of Express Drive on a report of a single-vehicle crash into a hotel. When they arrived, they found 20-year-old Dequan Johnson unresponsive from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on the scene. Cpl. Tina McGriff said there was damage to the building but no injuries to anyone inside. About 7:20 a.m. Wednesday, Montgomery police were on patrol in the 500 Block of Eastdale Road South when they spotted someone believed to be wanted for felony warrants. After units attempted to make contact with the vehicle, a pursuit ensued. The male was taken into custody in the 3400 block of Thomas Avenue. There were no injuries.
