Jay-Z is one of the most successful men in the music industry. As well as his roster of albums (if you count his collaborative efforts there s well above 20 to his name), he s the founder of streaming service Tidal and entertainment company Roc Nation, has stakes in Uber, recently sold his Armand De Brignac champagne brand to LVMH and still co-owns D’Ussé alongside beverage giant Bacardi.
And while this year
Forbes estimated his net worth to have surpassed the £1 billion mark (add Beyoncé s personal wealth and you ve got the richest pairing in music), Jay-Z hasn t let his success go to his head. The rapper/producer/writer could easily fork out the £30,000 now needed to cop a pair of those Dior x Air Jordan sneaks or even the £32,000 that his own collaborative Roc Nation Filas demand over at Farfetch. Yet he s still walking around in shoes that you could go and buy right now.
You can only maintain the same crew cut or high and tight for so long before you wonder how to grow out your hair and what life is like on the other side.
What is it like to grow your hair out? you wonder to yourself. It must be so nice to run a hand through it, to slow-motion shake it back and forth after a shower, like a dog that’s drying itself off. The designer asks his last gal standing, a secretary named Sassy who is mostly charged with procuring cocaine for the office, to read him the reviews of his latest collection, a low-priced iteration of his wares for mall retailer JC Penney. Spoiler alert: they’re bad. Embittered and tearful, he proclaims, “Reviews don’t matter.”
We re all feeling the urge to mark the end of lockdown with a bang or, in the case of our hair, a bob. The universally flattering style is set to be the most popular choice for 2021, with everyone rushing to secure a salon appointment for a chop after months of grown-out, limp-looking hair.
While we re pretty set on the length, there s still the small matter of deciding what
type of bob is best. There s the shag bob: sexy, natural texture with a bit of oomph at the crown; the asymmetric bob: a classic twist on a classic bob cut where one side is longer than the other; and the outgrown bob: otherwise known as the lob, or long bob, which offers a great choice to anyone who can t quite commit to cutting off too many inches. There s even the modern Diana bob, inspired by the most recent season of
